Whereas, The non-profit organization Wreaths Across America (WAA) carries out its mission to “remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and teach the next generation the value of freedom” by organizing live balsam-fir wreath-laying ceremonies for veterans at thousands of locations across all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad; and
Whereas, On the second Saturday in December at noon, National Wreaths Across America Day is observed at more than 5,200 locations nationwide, where over two million wreaths are placed on veterans’ graves, with this year’s theme being “keep moving forward”; and
Whereas, The United States Congress proclaims a Saturday in December as National Wreaths Across America Day; and
Whereas, In the state of Michigan, over one hundred and forty sponsored communities and veterans’ organizations will gather at ninety-six locations across the state, including Adrian, Grand Rapids, Grayling, Holly, Port Huron, South Lyon, and White Cloud, to lay around sixty thousand wreaths in remembrance of our fallen heroes; and
Whereas, This observance provides an opportunity for citizens of Michigan to join together in volunteer service, sponsorship of wreaths, and public remembrance that honors veterans, active-duty military, and their families, thereby affirming our state’s commitment to recognizing those who served, now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare December 13, 2025, as National Wreaths Across America Day in the state of Michigan. We extend our thanks and appreciation to our veterans and Gold Star Families for their service and sacrifice and to Wreaths Across America for bringing this honor to our community.
