2011 Senate Bill 103

Eliminate EITC

Introduced in the Senate

Feb. 8, 2011

Introduced by Sen. Roger Kahn (R-32)

To eliminate the earned income tax credit authorized in 2006, grants recipients an amount equal to 20 percent of the federal EITC. The EITC is a refundable tax credit (or “reverse income tax”) that sends checks to low income workers. Under it, more than $300 million worth of Michigan tax revenue is redistributed annually to workers who have low incomes.
