Whereas, MARSP was founded in 1951 to represent and support individuals who dedicated their careers to Michigan’s public schools; and
Whereas, For 75 years, MARSP has served as the collective voice of retired school employees including teachers, support staff, administrators, and other education professionals who have devoted their working lives to the success of Michigan’s students and communities; and
Whereas, MARSP has consistently advocated for the economic security, health, and dignity of retired school personnel, particularly through its leadership on retirement security, pension protections, health care access, and issues affecting the Michigan Public School Employees’ Retirement System; and
Whereas, Through legislative advocacy, member education, and community engagement, MARSP has helped ensure that the voices and lived experiences of retirees remain an important part of Michigan’s public policy conversations; and
Whereas, MARSP’s statewide network fosters civic involvement, volunteerism, and continued service among retirees, strengthening local communities across Michigan; and
Whereas, The organization’s commitment to nonpartisan advocacy and informed engagement reflects its belief that those who spent their careers serving Michigan’s children should continue to be heard and respected in public life; and
Whereas, The 75th anniversary of MARSP provides a meaningful opportunity to recognize the lasting contributions of retired school personnel and to honor an organization that has supported them across generations; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate, That the members of this legislative body commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) and extend our appreciation for the decades of service, advocacy, and leadership on behalf of Michigan’s retired school employees; and be it further
Resolved, That we recognize the invaluable contributions of retired school personnel to Michigan’s educational system and express best wishes to MARSP as it continues its mission in the years ahead.
