Whereas, Michigan continues to prepare students for success in an evolving economy that increasingly requires education and training beyond high school; and
Whereas, Career-connected learning, including Career and Technical Education (CTE), work-based learning, and college and career pathways, provides students with academic knowledge, technical skills, and employability competencies aligned with in-demand careers; and
Whereas, Students who participate in high-quality career pathway programs are more likely to graduate from high school, pursue post-secondary education, and experience positive early career outcomes; and
Whereas, More than 100,000 students in Michigan participate annually in state-approved Career and Technical Education programs, reflecting the growing interest of students in preparing for a skilled and competitive workforce; and
Whereas, Schools, educators, employers, and community partners across Michigan collaborate to create meaningful learning experiences that connect classroom instruction with real-world applications; and
Whereas, National Pathway Day, observed each year on April 16, provides an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the impact of career-connected learning on student success, workforce readiness, and community vitality; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare April 16, 2026, as National Pathway Day in the state of Michigan; and be it further
Resolved, That we commend the students participating in career-connected learning programs, as well as the educators, school leaders, employers, and community partners who support these efforts.
