A bill to amend 1970 PA 91, entitled “Child custody act of 1970,” by amending sections 7 and 8 (MCL 722.27 and 722.28), section 7 as amended by 2015 PA 52.
House Bill No. 5578 amends Michigan's Child Custody Act to mandate revocation of custody from parents convicted of or found to have committed sexual offenses against minors, clarifies procedures during military deployment, and applies these changes retroactively to custody orders from January 1, 2022 onward.
