Energy: alternative sources; zoning exemptions for large-scale solar, wind, and energy storage facilities; eliminate.

A bill to amend 2008 PA 295, entitled “Clean and renewable energy and energy waste reduction act,” by amending the title and section 13 (MCL 460.1013), as amended by 2023 PA 235; and to repeal acts and parts of acts.

House Bills 4027 and 4028 amend the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act to remove the applicability of part 8 of the Clean and Renewable Energy and Energy Waste Reduction Act. Also removes the ability to grandfather in the acceptance of any renewable energy facility approved after January 1, 2021 that prevents the special land use from being modified or revoked.
