Authorize new county “security transport officer" function and licensure category

To permit a county board of commissioners to establish a county mental health transportation panel comprised of specified officials and individuals representing specified interests, for the purpose of establish an alternative to using peace officers (police) to transport individuals with severe mental illness for involuntary hospitalization. The bill would also and authorize counties contracting with a private service to do this. See also Senate Bill 1200, which would impose a new occupational licensure mandate on “security transport officers” who do this.
