2019 Senate Bill 613

Require ‘tipped’ worker disclosures

Introduced in the Senate

Oct. 30, 2019

Introduced by Sen. Mallory McMorrow (D-13)

To make it a violation the state Consumer Protection Act for employers of “tipped” workers to represent to the public that employee get tip money in addition to their wage or pay, rather than as part of it, and require establishments to post their policies on this online or at the location. Under Michigan’s minimum wage law a separate and lower minimum wage is allowed for tipped workers, but employers must still pay the difference if tips come up short of making the regular minimum wage.
