2007 Senate Bill 505: Exempt judges from CPL “gun free zones”

To exempt retired and current state court judges from the “gun-free zone” provisions of the concealed pistol permit law. These zones include schools, day care facilities, sports stadiums or arenas, bars, bar/restaurants, places of worship, college dorms and classrooms, hospitals, casinos, entertainment facilities that hold more than 2,500, and courts.   Official Text and Analysis.

To tie-bar the bill to House Bill 5969, meaning this bill cannot become law unless that one does also. HB 5969 would allow a temporary resident (less than six months) with a concealed pistol permit from another state to have a handgun in Michigan without obtaining the usual license.
