To require training and certification of local corrections officers according to standards established by the state, and to help pay for the training to create a state fund financed by the $12 local jail “booking fees” proposed by House Bills 5978 and 5979. Counties that do their own training to standard equal to or higher than the state's could keep $10 of the booking fee, rather than sending it to the state.
