A bill to amend 2020 PA 366, entitled “An act to prohibit postsecondary educational institutions in this state and certain athletic organizations from preventing a college athlete from receiving compensation for the use of his or her name, image, or likeness rights,” (MCL 390.1731 to 390.1741) by adding section 6a.
Amends Michigan's NIL law to prohibit contracts and agent agreements that bind student athletes beyond their eligibility, require post-eligibility compensation or rights, or mandate out-of-state dispute resolution, thereby strengthening protections for student athletes in NIL arrangements.
