Whereas, Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, is recognized for his decisive leadership and steadfast commitment to liberty, economic opportunity, and the strength and resilience of the American people; and
Whereas, The emphasis on personal responsibility and national security influenced public policy and civic life during his presidency, with ideas that continue to be discussed and reflected upon by citizens of Michigan; and
Whereas, February 6 marks the birthday of President Ronald Reagan and provides an opportunity to recognize his legacy, honor his contributions to our nation, and reflect on the principles of liberty and unity that he championed throughout his life; and
Whereas, President Reagan’s policies and leadership encouraged innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunity—principles that align with Michigan’s history of industry, hard work, and the pursuit of the American Dream; and
Whereas, Reagan Day serves as an educational opportunity for schools, communities, and civic organizations across Michigan to highlight President Reagan’s role in American history and inspire future generations to participate in public service and leadership; and
Whereas, The observance of Reagan Day in Michigan recognizes the lasting impact of President Reagan’s vision and reaffirm a shared commitment to freedom, democracy, and the values that strengthen our state and nation; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare February 6, 2026, as Reagan Day in the state of Michigan.
