A bill to amend 1939 PA 288, entitled “Probate code of 1939,” by amending sections 13a, 18f, 18q, 19, and 19a of chapter XIIA (MCL 712A.13a, 712A.18f, 712A.18q, 712A.19, and 712A.19a), section 13a as amended by 2022 PA 200, section 18f as amended by 2016 PA 191, section 18q as added by 2012 PA 541, and sections 19 and 19a as amended by 2020 PA 9, and by adding sections 16b, 18u, and 18v to chapter XIIA.
Overhauls Michigan's juvenile justice and child welfare systems by establishing new oversight and training bodies, strengthening requirements for family reunification and child placement, and mandating data-driven reforms to improve outcomes for children and families.
