A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled “Michigan election law,” (MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 558a.
House Bills 5795 and 5796 require candidates for county office in Michigan to disclose felony convictions (excluding expunged, set aside, or pardoned offenses) via affidavit and to promptly update this disclosure if convicted after filing, thereby increasing transparency in local elections.
