A bill to amend 1964 PA 9, entitled “An act to describe, define, and officially adopt certain systems of coordinates for designating the position of points on or near the surface of the earth within this state,” by amending sections 1, 1a, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9 (MCL 54.231, 54.231a, 54.233, 54.234, 54.236, 54.237, 54.238, and 54.239), sections 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9 as amended and section 1a as added by 1988 PA 154; and to repeal acts and parts of acts.
House Bill No. 5577 updates Michigan's coordinate system laws to align with national geodetic standards, mandates comprehensive metadata and accuracy requirements for recorded coordinates, and repeals outdated system references to ensure modern, reliable geographic data management.
