A bill to amend 2008 PA 23, entitled “Enhanced driver license and enhanced official state personal identification card act,” by amending section 5 (MCL 28.305), as amended by 2023 PA 262.
House Bills 5474–5477 strengthen Michigan’s reentry framework by requiring the Department of Corrections and Secretary of State to assist eligible prisoners in obtaining state identification and driver licenses before or immediately after release, establishing reentry support funding, updating inclusive statutory language, and enhancing privacy, documentation, and communication-access protections to support successful reintegration into the community.
