A bill to amend 1971 PA 227, entitled “An act to prescribe the rights and duties of parties to home solicitation sales; to regulate certain telephone solicitation; to provide for the powers and duties of certain state officers and entities; and to prescribe penalties and remedies,” by amending section 1 (MCL 445.111), as amended by 2009 PA 93.
Senate Bills 739 through 753 collectively modernize and harmonize Michigan’s consumer finance, commercial, and regulatory statutes by strengthening consumer protections, updating licensing, disclosure, titling, and enforcement frameworks, revising criminal penalties and sentencing guidelines, clarifying definitions across financial, environmental, lobbying, and identity-theft laws, and aligning state statutes with modern electronic, commercial, and regulatory practices, with most provisions contingent on the enactment of related legislation.
