A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled “The Michigan penal code,” by amending section 136b (MCL 750.136b), as amended by 2020 PA 49.
Senate Bills 735 and 736 update and clarify Michigan’s child protection and child abuse statutes by refining definitions of neglect and abuse, expanding protections, clarifying penalties and defenses, and ensuring that reasonable parental decisions and legally permitted independent activities are not misclassified or prosecuted as child neglect or abuse.
