A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled “The code of criminal procedure,” by amending section 11b of chapter XVII (MCL 777.11b), as amended by 2023 PA 22.
House Bills 5425 and 5426 strengthen Michigan’s public safety and sentencing framework by prohibiting registered sex offenders from working in businesses serving minors, establishing penalties and notification requirements, and updating criminal sentencing guidelines to create new offense classifications and enhanced penalties for serious and repeat violations, with the changes taking effect 90 days after enactment if related legislation is also passed.
