A bill to amend 1984 PA 270, entitled “Michigan strategic fund act,” by amending sections 4, 5, and 7 (MCL 125.2004, 125.2005, and 125.2007), sections 4 and 7 as amended by 2020 PA 358 and section 5 as amended by 2023 PA 24, and by adding section 15; and to repeal acts and parts of acts.
House Bills 5243–5244 would centralize Michigan’s economic development authority under the Strategic Fund, eliminate the MEDC’s operational role and any future overlap, and bar state agencies and development bodies from forming interlocal agreements for joint economic development activities while preserving existing labor protections.
