A bill to amend 1996 PA 354, entitled “Savings bank act,” by amending section 210 (MCL 487.3210), as amended by 2000 PA 481, and by adding section 401a.
House Bills 5238–5240 would bar Michigan banks, savings banks, and credit unions from denying financial services to agricultural producers based on ESG-related environmental criteria, create presumptions of violation for institutions with ESG commitments, and impose updated enforcement mechanisms and civil fines.
