A bill to amend 1976 PA 220, entitled “Persons with disabilities civil rights act,” by amending section 606 (MCL 37.1606), as amended by 1998 PA 20, and by adding section 606a.
House Bill No. 5075 amends Michigan's disability civil rights law to require a notice-and-cure process before lawsuits over accessibility violations, providing facility owners an opportunity to address issues and limiting damages and attorney fees if compliance is achieved within specified timelines.
