A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled “The code of criminal procedure,” by amending section 13 of chapter IV (MCL 764.13), as amended by 1980 PA 506, and by adding section 1a to chapter III.
House Bill No. 4944 strengthens due process protections for arrested individuals in Michigan by codifying Miranda warnings and requiring that those arrested without a warrant be brought before a magistrate within 48 hours.
