A bill to amend 1989 PA 211, entitled “An act to require notice to cosigners; to impose duties on persons who report adverse information regarding an indebtedness; to provide remedies; and to impose penalties,” by amending section 2 (MCL 445.272).
House Bills No. 4887 through 4891 reform Michigan’s licensing and debt collection framework by streamlining occupational licensing, repealing regulation of collection agencies, clarifying exemptions and definitions, and strengthening consumer protections and regulatory oversight of debt collection and debt management practices.
