2022 Senate Bill 1160

Earmark state tax revenue to share with local governments

Introduced in the Senate

Sept. 7, 2022

Introduced by Sen. Wayne Schmidt (R-37)

To authorize a segregated state account, to be dubbed the “revenue sharing trust fund,” to hold money from currently authorized tax revenue streams, and additional ones that may be authorized in the future, for distribution to local governments, some of which is currently required by the state constitution and more by state statutes. Senate Bill 1161 would establish a “floor” for these revenue earmarks.
