2021 House Bill 5620

Stop keeping corporate subsidy amounts a government secret

Introduced in the House

Dec. 8, 2021

Introduced by Rep. Pat Outman (R-70)

To require the state department that manages giving subsidies to certain corporations and developers (the “Michigan Strategic Fund”) to make public the “economic development contracts” it gives to particular companies before submitting them to a board for required approval. This would apply to any “grant, loan, award, tax credit, or other economic assistance,” and would require posting on the department’s website any “proposed draft contract approval agreements and...briefing memoranda and term sheets”.

Referred to the Committee on Government Operations
