Appropriations: Governor’s ”omnibus” education budget

The education portion of the executive budget recommendation proposed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1, 2020. The bill would appropriate $15.923 billion for K-12 public education (of which $1.806 billion is federal money), $433.7 million for community colleges (all state money) and $1.743 billion for state universities ($116 million federal). Senate Bill 802 contains the Governor’s “omnibus” budget recommendation for the rest of state government.
