2020 Senate Bill 796

Revise road tax allocation

Introduced in the Senate

Feb. 18, 2020

Introduced by Sen. Ken Horn (R-32)

To revise the allocation of state road tax revenue (mostly fuel tax and vehicle registration tax revenue). Under current law, 39.1% goes to maintaining state “trunkline” roads, another 39.1 goes to counties for road repairs, and local governments get 21.8%. Under the bill these percentages would go to 21.8% for state roads, 43.1% for counties and 35.1% for locals.
