2020 Senate Bill 1228

Revise school expulsion and suspension procedures

Introduced in the Senate

Nov. 18, 2020

Introduced by Sen. Jeff Irwin (D-18)

To establish procedures schools must use and create a new category of appointed “independent decision makers” to determine whether the pupil is subject to a suspension of more than 10 days, expulsion, or alternative placement for more than 10 days. This is part of a package comprised of Senate Bills 1228 to 1230.
