2020 Senate Bill 1198

Authorize limited coronavirus liability shield for business and facilities

Introduced in the Senate

Oct. 13, 2020

Introduced by Sen. Adam Hollier (D-2)

To establish in a new law that a business, facility owner and others are not liable for a claim that arises from exposure of an individual to COVID-19 on the premises if they were “in compliance with all statutes, regulations, rules, and other forms of guidance,” and if these are in conflict, if they “followed the strictest requirement.” Similar protections and limitations would apply to makers and distributors of personal protective equipment. The exemptions would apply only after March 9, 2020 and before July 15, 2020.
