2019 House Bill 4989

Let Wayne ISD hold tax hike vote on May election date

Introduced in the House

Sept. 18, 2019

Introduced by Rep. Joseph Bellino (R-17)

To repeal a provision that requires the Wayne County Intermediate School District (called the “Wayne Regional Education Service Agency”) to hold a regional property tax millage increase only on the same day as statewide primary or general elections. Instead, the Wayne RESA could seek a property tax of up to three mills at the “next regular school election” of the constituent districts, or in some cases, it could schedule a special election. These provisions are what currently apply to other ISDs..
