2018 House Bill 5799

MSU sex abuse scandal legislative response package

Introduced in the House

April 12, 2018

Introduced by Rep. Pamela Hornberger (R-32)

To expand the governor’s authority to remove a member of the state Board of Education or the governing boards of the University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Wayne State University. Under current law the governor can remove a member for gross neglect of duty or for corrupt conduct, but only when the legislature is not in session. The bill would eliminate that last condition.
