2018 House Bill 5482

Reimburse teachers for getting in-demand subject “endorsement”

Introduced in the House

Jan. 30, 2018

Introduced by Rep. Abdullah Hammoud (D-15)

To require school districts to pay public school teachers to earn a subject area qualification for academic subjects in which there is a critical shortage as defined in the state school code. A teacher would have to commit to working for three years in that field or else pay back the money. This is part of a Democratic teacher incentives package comprised of House Bills 5465 to 5484.
