2017 House Bill 4677

Juvenile justice revisions

Introduced in the House

May 30, 2017

Introduced by Rep. Stephanie Chang (D-6)

To create a Family Advisory Board in the Department of Corrections to give advice on ways to support family reunification during and after when a minor is incarcerated for committing a serious crime, and other steps intended to assist reentry into the community and reduce recidivism. This is one of a number of bills in a broader "raise the age" juvenile justice reform effort that would no longer automatically treat minors who commit certain crimes as adults.

Referred to the Committee on Law and Justice

Nov. 28, 2018

Reported without amendment

Without amendment and with the recommendation that the bill pass.
