2017 House Bill 4554

Remove individual pistol purchase from state database upon request

Introduced in the House

May 2, 2017

Introduced by Rep. Lee Chatfield (R-107)

To require the State Police to remove information about an individual’s pistol purchases from a pistol purchase database it maintains upon request of the individual. This refers to a state requirement to get a pistol purchase permit before buying a pistol. This requirement has been repealed for purchases from licensed gun dealers (which are all submitted to an instant federal background check), but it still applies to purchases from individuals, or inherited pistols.
