2017 House Bill 4512

Mandate “comparable worth” wages

Introduced in the House

April 25, 2017

Introduced by Rep. Winnie Brinks (D-76)

To revise the state minimum wage law by adding the same ban on certain types of discrimination that are specified in the state Civil Rights law (religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, or marital status), applied explicitly to wage differentials. Specifically, the bill would ban wage differentials in a workplace that are not based on a “bona fide, job-related factor, such as job-related education, training, experience, or market conditions.” See also House Bill 4509.
