2012 House Bill 5312

Authorize county vehicle registration tax

Introduced in the House

Jan. 26, 2012

Introduced by Rep. Douglas Geiss (D-22)

To give counties the power to impose a higher county vehicle registration tax (on top of the state version), with the money used for county roads and transit projects. A vote of the people would be required before the tax could be imposed. This is part of Gov. Rick Snyder’s road and transit tax proposal. Senate Bill 911 is the same proposal.
