2011 House Joint Resolution T

Repeal term limits and establish part time legislature

Introduced in the House

March 28, 2011

Introduced by Rep. Richard LeBlanc (D-18)

To place before voters in the next general election a Constitutional amendment to repeal legislative term limits, and replace the current full time legislature with a part time legislature that would meet not more than 31 days in regular session each year. Under Michigan’s current term limits representatives may only get three terms of two-years each, and senators may only get two terms of four-years each. The measure would also reduce legislator pay, and limit the number of bills they may introduce.
