2010 Senate Bill 1353

Restrict auto insurance premium variations

Introduced in the Senate

June 1, 2010

Introduced by Sen. Martha G. Scott (D-2)

To prohibit auto insurers from basing the price of a policy on geographic factors including the claims record in the area where an insured vehicle is garaged; whether the vehicle is used for business, farm or personal use; the number of vehicles the insured person has covered; the amount of insurance on the vehicle; the income of the insured person; the number of dependents covered under the policy; the vehicle make and model; and other factors currently used. Essentially, auto insurance companies would have to set rates almost exclusively on the driving record of the insured person.
