To require a candidate who asks for an election recount to pay a deposit of $125 for each precinct requested unless the vote differential were more than one-half of one percent, or 50 votes (whichever was greater). Under current law a candidate must pay a $10 deposit per precinct. The bill would require the candidate to pay the actual costs of a recount if no evidence of fraud is found.
