To establish a new category of "assisted outpatient treatment" or "AOT," which means intensive case management services or “assertive community treatment team services” for those mental heath patients under court order to submit to such treatment, as proposed by House Bill 5825 and 5827. “Assisted outpatient treatment" may include medication; drug tests to determine compliance with prescribed medications; individual or group therapy; day program activities; vocational, educational, or self-help training or activities; alcohol or substance abuse treatment and counseling, with periodic drug or alcohol tests; supervision of living arrangements; and any other services to treat the mental illness and assist the individual in living and functioning in the community, or needed to prevent relapse or deterioration that may reasonably be predicted to result in suicide or hospitalization.
