Introduced by Rep. Phil Potvin R-Cadillac on May 12, 2015
To revise a law that lets several local governments organize a recreational authority with the power to levy up to one-mill of property tax for swimming pools, recreation centers, public auditoriums, public conference centers, and parks. The bill would let public school districts organize one of these too. The law requires approval by voters in each municipality, and is silent on whether the recreational facilities may be school facilities, but it does require them to be open to the public.
