2021 House Bill 5491: Revise current law definition of disease “carrier”
Introduced by Rep. Steven Johnson R-Wayland on October 28, 2021
To revise the Michigan public health code’s definition of disease “carrier” to exclude individuals with COVID-19. The current definition reads, “an individual who serves as a potential source of infection and who harbors (or is suspected to harbor) a specific infectious agent serious or a communicable disease or infection” whether or not symptoms are discernable. The designation requires officials to give a warning notice requiring the individual to cooperate in efforts to prevent or control transmission of serious communicable diseases or infections, which is enforceable with a court order.   Official Text and Analysis.
Referred to the House Government Operations Committee on October 28, 2021
