2021 House Bill 4570

Appropriate federal education stimulus money now not later

Introduced in the House

March 23, 2021

Introduced by Rep. Regina Weiss (D-27)

To appropriate the full amount of federal stimulus dollars available for school districts now, rather than some now and more later. The bill would remove a provision in an earlier school spending measure that makes receipt of certain funds contingent on a school district having reopened classes for live, in-person classroom instruction by a specified date, and also remove a provision requiring House Bill 4049 to become law for the spending to go forward. HB 4049 would transfer the power to close schools during an epidemic from the state health department to local health departments.
