Introduced in the Senate

Jan. 30, 2018

Introduced by Sen. Jim Ananich (D-27)

To increase the sanctions on persons or entities that provide water if they violate provisions of a state law that prescribes procedures and standards for delivering safe drinking water. The bill increases the penalty for misdemeanor violations from $5,000 per day to $7,500 (plus up to a year in jail), and authorizes $10,000 per day plus two years in prison for felony offenses, or five years if the violation caused someone physical injury. Water supply systems would also have to notify all their customers about the violation and penalty.
