2017 House Bill 5076

Revise end of life decision maker procedures

Introduced in the House

Oct. 5, 2017

Introduced by Rep. Jeff Noble (R-20)

To prohibit a doctor from issuing a do not resuscitate order or an order to withhold or withdraw life-sustaining treatment first obtaining the consent of the patient (or a parent if the patient is a minor). If the patient is unable to participate in treatment decisions then the consent would have to come from a designated patient advocate, parent, or from a guardian if one has been appointed by a court for a patient who is a legally incapacitated individual.
