2017 House Bill 4105

Withhold state money from so-called “sanctuary cities"

Introduced in the House

Jan. 26, 2017

Introduced by Rep. Pamela Hornberger (R-32)

To prohibit local governments from adopting or enforcing a policy that limits officials or police from communicating or cooperating with appropriate federal officials concerning the status of illegal aliens. Cities would have to give written notice of their duty to police and other staff, and give written notice to the state that they have done so. Jurisdictions in violation would not receive the optional, non-constitutional portion of state revenue sharing dollars.

Referred to the Committee on Local Government

June 7, 2017

Reported without amendment

With the recommendation that the substitute (H-1) be adopted and that the bill then pass.
