2011 Senate Bill 146

Lower enployer unemployment premiums during road closures

Introduced in the Senate

Feb. 15, 2011

Introduced by Sen. Goeff Hansen (R-34)

To not include unemployment insurance benefits paid to a worker who is laid off because a temporary road closure limits access to a business when calculating how high an insurance premium the firm should be charged. Under Michigan’s unemployment mandatory insurance law employers pay premiums based on their layoff experience.
