2009 Senate Bill 798: Raise state income tax
Introduced by Sen. John Gleason (D) on September 10, 2009
To increase the state income tax from 4.35 percent to 4.8 percent, a 10.3 percent income tax hike.   Official Text and Analysis.
Referred to the Senate Finance Committee on September 10, 2009
Motion by Sen. Alan L. Cropsey (R) on September 30, 2009
Discharge the Committee on Finance from further consideration of the bill and move it directly to the House floor for an immediate vote. This was a tactical move by the majority intended to demonstrate that the minority did not have sufficient votes for the "new revenues" they wanted instead of budget cuts.
The motion passed by voice vote in the Senate on September 30, 2009
