2009 Senate Bill 127: Authorize “bad driver tax” amnesty period

To waive any penalties for a person liable for payments under the ”driver responsibility fees law, if the individual pays 75 percent of the tax amount between Feb 15 and April 15, 2009. The bill would also allow a driver to pay a two year charge in one year, and would end some of these assessments after 2009. This tax was adopted in 2003 to raise revenue so as avoid spending cuts in that year’s and subsequent state government budgets.   Official Text and Analysis.
